Too Much For US
A magazine cover featuring groundbreaking Melbourne model Andrej Pejic has been deemed too racy for magazine stands in the US because the gender-bending "Broady boy" is bare-chested and looks too feminine.
The 19-year-old from working-class Broadmeadows has taken the fashion world by storm with his androgynous look, modelling womenswear for Paris couture shows and even wearing a wedding dress for Jean Paul Gaultier.
But his latest magazine cover for the New York-based magazine Dossier Journal - in which he is pictured taking off his shirt with his long blond locks in curlers - has been ruled too risque by US bookstores.
Dossier creative director Skye Parrott told the Huffington Post that the magazines had informed that Pejic was male, and that they were essentially censoring the image of a shirtless man.
To me it sounds so discriminating men and women are half-naked on magazine covers every day, but in this case, where the model appears to be a man and woman at the same time, it is immoral.

Brazil's Supreme Court Recognizes Gay Partnerships
Brazil's Federal Supreme Court on Thursday legally recognized homosexual partnerships in a landmark case for gay rights in a country with the world's largest population of Roman Catholics.
Justices at the STF, as the country's top court is known, voted 10 to zero in favor of gay partnerships, setting a legal precedent in Latin America's largest country. One justice, Jose Antonio Dias Toffoli, refrained from voting, saying he had dealt previously with related cases.
The decision grants gay couples most of the rights enjoyed by heterosexual partners, including pension benefits, inheritance and, some lawyers say, possibly the right to adopt children. Lower courts had ruled both in favor of and against partnerships, which are not governed by a specific law.
The ruling makes Brazil the second South American nation after Argentina to allow gay partnerships. The majority of judges argued that the Constitution did not explicitly rule out gay partnerships and that these were an expression of the right to privacy and equality before the law.
Gay activists celebrated the decision, saying the ruling shows the state is willing to defend the rights of citizens regardless of their sexual and race condition.
"The degree of civilization of a country can be measured by the way people in a nation treat their homosexual community," newspaper O Globo's website cited Claudio Nascimento, head of Rio de Janeiro state's Gay, Lesbian and Transsexuals Committee, as saying. "It's a historic day for Brazil."
Brazil's Roman Catholic Church had argued against the decision, saying the only union the Constitution referred to was that between a man and a woman.
About 140 million of Brazil's 190 million population in 2008 were Roman Catholic.
Most major cities in Brazil have an active and open gay community, and Sao Paulo every year hosts the world's largest gay parade, with about 3 million people attending.

5,000 Year Old Trans Skeleton Found In Prague
It seems the Belami land is gonna be even more famous to be the factory of gays.
Archaeologists have just discovered a 5,000-year-old skeleton which they believe may be the remains of a transgender person.
The male skeleton was found in a suburb of Prague and is buried in a manner previously only seen for female burials. The body is believed to date from between 2900 and 2500BC and is from the Corded Ware culture of the Copper Age. Men’s bodies from that age and culture are usually found buried with their heads towards the west and with weapons.
But this skeleton was found with its head towards the east and was surrounded by domestic jugs – as women’s bodies from the time are usually found.
At a press conference in Prague yesterday, archaeologists theorised that the person may have been transgender or ‘third sex’.
Kamila Remišová, the head of the research team, said: “From history and ethnology, we know that when a culture had strict burial rules they never made mistakes with these sort of things.”
Archaeologist Kateřina Semrádová told Czech Position: “We believe this is one of the earliest cases of what could be described as a ‘transsexual’ or ‘third gender grave’ in the Czech Republic.”

The World's First Married Gay Couple Ever
Last week was the 10-year anniversary of the Netherlands becoming the world's first country to offer gay marriage, it also means a select group of gay couples will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversaries.
But for Helene Faasen and Anne-Marie Thus, they' were celebrating something just a little more: the 10th anniversary of becoming the world's first-ever legally married gay couple. Yep, Helene and Anne-Marie -- who say they "married for love, not politics" -- were the first gays ever to get hitched (and have it recognized by a federal government). It was, you might recall, a very public moment: reporters were all over their ceremony, which took place at the opening of a photo exhibit in Amsterdam. Congratulations, ladies.

All To Look Like a Drag Queen
A north London lesbian has spent almost $10,000 to have plastic surgery so she could look like a drag queen. She cites plastic surgery addict Pete Burns as a role model for her quest to be mistaken for a man in drag.
The appropriately named Collagen Westwood says:
“I’ve admired drag queens since I was a little girl. They’re glamorous and beautiful – what woman wouldn’t want to look like that?
I have a couple of different wigs that I wear when I go out, and people are always assuming I’m a transvestite. I love it when people mistake me for a man. It doesn’t offend me – I think drag queens look fantastic.”

Holland, 10 Years of Gay Marriage
Holland is about to celebrate a decade of gay marriage, when he became the first country in the world to legalize marriage between same-sex couples in April 2001.
Ten years later, 20% of Dutch gays and lesbians are married, after 15 000 marriages.
Many of them are married without love, sure, but just as heterosexual couples, the desire to have children and the legal responsibilities that comes from that usually weigh more for gay and lesbian couples to marry. This might explain why gay couples married less than heterosexuals. gay couples, especially men, still face considerable difficulties when they want to adopt children.

Elizabeth Taylor Leaves Fortune to AIDS Charities
Elizabeth Taylor, who passed away on March 23, left the bulk of her $600 million fortune to
AIDS charities.
An early and tireless advocate for HIV and AIDS causes, Taylor’s ultra valuable jewelry collection will reportedly be auctioned off to benefit The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and amfAR, the AIDS charity she founded in 1985.
As of 2002, Taylor’s stunning personal collection had an estimated value of $150 million.

IKEA's Gay Ad Causing Controversy In Italy
Why Italians are so angry with a new gay-friendly ad from IKEA?
A new ad from IKEA, the latest in the company's long history of LGBT-directed marketing, features a same-sex couple holding hands. But Italian leaders aren't feeling the love.
IKEA says: We are open to all families. With us you will feel at home. What we want to do is make life easier for everyone, every family, every couple, whoever they are.
But the newspapers says: It labelled it as ''provocative'' and added:'’What's behind all this? It's not awareness of gay rights for gay couples. It's just a brazen marketing strategy.’
The paper went on to say that it was ''not an isolated incident'' but a clear attempt at ''Swedish Imperialism'' that tried to make everyone equal by having the same ''cheap furniture.''
Of course any company is thinking about the money of gays, but I believe any attempt of equality is great. And the reaction from the Land of the Pope do not surprise me at all.

Ricky Martin Wins Glaad Gay Media Award
The annual Glaad awards ceremony in New York hailed Martin for appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss his decision to come out as gay.
The Latino singer also spoke of life as a single working father of twin boys. We are happy for you Ricky:-)
